First, welcome! We're not sure how you found out about Redeemer - from a friend, from a search engine, or from seeing our church sign. Whatever brought you here, we're glad you're here and glad you're taking a few minutes to look around and find out more about Redeemer.
Redeemer was formed in February of 2008 with a handful of families who were hungry for God to do a new work in Little Rock. Our desire was to be joined together with others who seek to take God and the Bible seriously, who take Jesus and the gospel seriously, who come together for heartfelt, passionate worship of God, who take our relationships with one another seriously and who understand, embrace and take seriously the mission of the church - to make disciples, near and far.
Our Sunday morning worship services start at 10 am:
* We sing together (a mix of traditional hymns and more contemporary songs) * We pray for each other * We spend time together looking at what the Bible teaches (you can listen to any of our recent sermons by clicking here) * We take the Lord's Supper together each week
Dress is whatever is comfortable for you. Most folks will be dressed casually.
When you arrive, someone will greet you and help you with a name tag. If you have preschoolers, we have child care and children's church for children from birth to five every Sunday. If you have older children, they are welcome in our worship service. We typically begin the service with a song or a hymn of celebration. After a few announcements, we take time to greet one another and to welcome visitors. Don't be surprised if the people in the seats in front of you turn around and introduce themselves. The folks at Redeemer are real friendly! :-)
We take time in our service to pray for special needs in our congregation, followed by a call to worship. We'll then take about 20 minutes to sing five or six songs that express our love for God and our gratitude for the cross of Christ.
We have a shared pulpit at Redeemer, with a number of gifted men who preach God's word to us. Most often, the sermons are designed to help explain what a particular passage from the Bible and to offer insight into the implications of the passage for our lives.
The sermon leads us to the Lord's table each week for Communion. As we take the bread and the cup, we remind ourselves each week of the central message of the Christian faith - the message that makes Christianity different from every other world religion. We remind ourselves of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As we reflect on the good news that we have peace with God through the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf, we find the grace and strength we need to live for Jesus in a broken world.
The service takes about 90 minutes. We're usually done between 11:30 and 11:45. We hope you'll join us soon for Sunday morning worship at Redeemer. Click here for directions.
