Let me show you what you did today. You made a lot of kids smile and planted a lot of gospel seeds in young hearts.
And together, we made a statement to a lot of moms and dads, a lot of teachers and staff at David O’ Dodd Elementary School.
It began this week with a shopping adventure. When you’re making plans to bless 170+ kids, you have to be strategic about when and where and how you shop.
Next came the packing. Here’s what that looked like.
Inside each container was an age appropriate collection of toys, coloring books, crayons, a Christmas ornament, a winter hat, socks, and a gospel story for kids.
And each box has a sticker with information about our church, inviting families to join us any Sunday for worship.
Once we loaded up all 170 gift boxes…
And we passed them on to Mrs. Modica, the Principal at David O Dodd and her staff.
We were even able to deliver some Christmas cookies and cupcakes for the teachers and staff.
All of this happened today because of your kindness. Your generosity. Your love and care for these kids.
For many of these children, the gifts we’ve provided will be a special treasure this Christmas. Let’s pray God will use these gifts to bring kids (and their moms and dads) into a living relationship with Himself.
Thank you for your love, your kindness and your desire to be a light to others in a dark world.
There are, give or take, about 200 hours before it will be Christmas morning. In those next 200 hours, we have a few things going on:
Be sure to take special note of the 5:00 PM start time for our Christmas Eve Candlelight and Carols Service next Thursday night.
This week, for the final Sunday in Advent, we’ll spend time thinking together about how the birth of Jesus speaks to the longing in each one of us to experience love and to live in a world where love wins out over fear and anger and hate.
