Dear Friends,

Anthropologist Margaret Mead once observed that “everyone needs to have access both to grandparents and grandchildren in order to be a full human being.”

The author of the book Roots, Alex Haley said “nobody can do for little children what grandparents do.”

And children’s book authors Charles and Ann Morse said “a child needs a grandparent, anybody’s grandparent, to grow a little more securely into an unfamiliar world.”

The Bible is more specific. A grandparent is to be thinking carefully about how we pass along the truth about God not only to our children, but to their children as well.

He established a testimony in Jacob
and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our fathers
to teach to their children,
that the next generation might know them,
the children yet unborn,
and arise and tell them to their children,
so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
but keep his commandments. (Psalm 78:5-7)

Being a grandparent is a high and holy calling. We who bear the designation have an assignment from God that we ought not ignore. It is a joy and a privilege to be able to bear witness to the word of God and the works of God in our lives and to pass that truth on to future generations.

If you are a grandparent, I want to invite, encourage and urge you to join us at Redeemer Community Church in Little Rock for two special days in October for a live simulcast of the National Grandparenting Summit.
Registration is now open. The cost for the Summit is $59 per person. You can register easily on line by clicking here. There are scholarships available for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. These two days will be a wonderful opportunity for every grandparent to be energized, equipped and freshly inspired to help mold and shape the hearts and lives of our grandchildren. I hope you’ll attend, and I hope you’ll forward this invitation every grandparent you know. Each one of us will leave a legacy. The only question is, what will that legacy be?

Hope to see you at the National Grandparenting Summit on October 21 and 22 at Redeemer Community Church in Little Rock. Soli Deo Gloria!

Bob Lepine, Teaching Pastor
