We typically begin the service with a song or a hymn of celebration. After a few announcements, we take time to greet one another and to welcome visitors. Don’t be surprised if the people in front of you turn around and introduce themselves. The folks at Redeemer are very friendly!
We take time in our service to pray for special needs in our congregation, followed by a call to worship. We’ll then take time to sing songs that express our love for God and our gratitude for the cross of Christ.
Then we have a time to study the Word of God as it is taught verse-by-verse, and to share the Lord’s Supper together.
TEACHING MINISTRY
At Redeemer, we take God’s Word seriously. We believe every Christian has a responsibility to dig deep into Scripture to understand what the Bible says, what it means, how it applies, and how it points us to Jesus and the gospel. In our Sunday worship services, we often take time to work our way through long passages or entire books. We also occasionally take time to consider what God’s Word has to say about specific subjects or topics.
As we study God’s Word together, we are asking God’s Spirit to transform our lives by the renewing of our minds. We do not study the Bible to become smarter people. We study the Bible to become more Christ-like people. And that is something that God does in us as we spend time thinking carefully about what He has revealed to us in His holy, living, and active Word.
