In honor of all moms everywhere, I’ve decided to devote this Mother’s Day week edition of the newsletter to passing along a short list of things moms have said or thought at one time or another. All have been curated from random websites…
“Silence is golden. Unless you have kids. Then silence is suspicious.”
“I don’t want to sleep like a baby. I want to sleep like my husband.”
“Sitting by myself in the bathroom with the door locked eating Nutella from the jar. How’s your day going?”
“Whoever wrote the song ‘easy like Sunday morning’ does not have kids.”
“If my kids act up in public, I simply say ‘I bet your mother is going to be mad at you’ and then act like they’re not mine.”
“When I cook for my kids, I always give them a choice. Take it or leave it.”
“I’ve conquered a lot of things … blood clots in my lungs — twice … knee and foot surgeries … winning Grand Slams being down match point … to name just a few, but I found out by far the hardest is figuring out a stroller!” – Serena Williams
“At bedtime, my children magically turn into dehydrated philosophers who need a hug.”
“That moment when your 2 week old baby is sleeping and you wonder if it’s possible to take a nap in the shower while you eat lunch….”
“My friend asked when she could come by to see the baby. I told her 4 am would be super helpful. Just let yourself in…”
“Anytime I say: ‘I’m going to the bathroom,’ what my kids hear is ’Time for a family meeting. Assemble in the bathroom now!’”
“My kids will walk right past their father sitting on the couch and come bang on the shower door for me to open a fruit snack.”
“Based on the amount of laundry I’m doing, I assume that there are people living in our house that I’ve never seen.”
Happy Mother’s Day, especially to all of our new moms. Looking forward to celebrating the day with you Sunday as we join with moms and dads to dedicate Gloria, Boaz, Clay, McCoy, Ruby and Charlotte to the Lord!
Attached is the Redeemer Summer Calendar, with dates and information about all the special summertime activities we have planned. If you’d like to download and print your own copy, you can download it here.
Have you blocked out Monday nights on your calendar starting in June for our Summer Seminar on Systematic Theology? We begin on Monday June 3. It’s open to anyone who would like an overview of the major doctrines of the Christian faith. Maybe you have friends you’d like to invite to join you for the class?
If you’re planning to attend, you’ll want to get a copy of RC Sproul’s book Everyone’s A Theologian before the study begins. You can order it online from Amazon here.
5:1 says that it was for freedom that Christ set us free. Does that
mean we no longer have to worry about God’s commands?
Not according to John, as we’ll see Sunday.
See you in church.
Soli Deo Gloria!
